Changing Credit Card Processors
Over the last year, we have received many phone calls from clients wanting to change their credit card processor. Apparently the credit card industry has gotten very aggressive lately and some are offering rates that are very appealing. As appealing as they may seem, there are some very important issues that you need to be aware of:
There is usually a two week turn around time to get set up with a new processor.
There is a $400 minimum charge to reprogram your credit card modem (we depend on Menusoft to re-program the modem and they charge us for it). The charge could be more if the processor is not on the ball; many times we will have to spend hours on the phone working with some of these new processors just to get the correct information from them, since many of them are unfamiliar with the process.
A new updated modem may be required for an additional cost.
Some processors are aware of these costs and are willing to either split the costs with you or in some cases they will reimburse you in full.
We will be more than happy to assist in when switching processors; we just want to be sure that you have all of the facts when making the decision to do so.
