PRINTERS To the Top
Note: All paper supplies can be purchased from Packard Paper 1-800-289-9696

    (Thermal only)
  1. Not printing, paper IS feeding.
    1. is the paper in backwards?
    2. are you sure that it is thermal paper? (shiny/fax type paper)
    (All printer types)
  2. Printer is printing weird symbols (garbage)
    1. power printer off/on
    2. check connections
  3. Not printing at all
    1. are the correct light(s) lit and solid (if printer has "on-line" option; press the on-line button until the on-line light is lit and solid)
    2. is the printer plugged in and getting power
    3. power the printer off/on
    4. check the connections to the printer (power and data)
    5. re-load the paper
    6. swap out this printer with a working printer to see if the problem follows the printer.
CREDIT CARD SWIPES To the Top
    (types and models vary)
  1. not responding or intermittent response
    1. check for green light
    2. check connections
    3. clean using a wet-nap
    4. power off workstation, check connections, power on
CREDIT CARD VERIFICATION To the Top
    DOS systems:
  1. authorizations not going through (all declined)
    1. check connections to the credit card modem in the office
    2. power off/on all devices (fax line manager, credit card modem & main PC)
    Windows systems
  1. Authorizations not going through (all declined)
    1. check for power to the credit card modem (small red led light on left front of modem)
    2. from the main PC, click on the DDCD or Digital Dining Credit Card Icon. If the display box reads "modem init error", click the command button on the right and then click the start button just under the command button.
WORKSTATIONS To the Top
Note: many configurations exist and some solutions may not apply.
    Keyboard Style
  1. locked up
    1. is printer on line
    2. power off/on (for windows, be sure to use proper shut-down procedures)
    3. check connections
  2. Keyboard not responding
    1. check to be sure the “Num Lock” light in the upper right corner is lit. If not, press the [Num Lock] key to activate.
    2. power the workstation off/on
    3. check connections
    4. swap with a functioning keyboard to see if problem follows the keyboard.
  3. Station locked up and has a message of "selecting printer device..."
    1. a remote or check printer is off line, out of paper, off or disconnected
    2. check connections
TOUCHSCREENS To the Top
Note: when powering off/on, remember to turn off/on the touchscreen and the mini PC under it.
  1. Screen not responding to touch
    1. check connections
    2. if there is a keyboard or keypad attached, be sure there are no keys stuck or depressed.
    3. shut down/ power down the touchscreen & mini PC, clean the screen with a damp cloth; power station back on.
BATTERY BACK-UP To the Top
  1. continuous beeping
    1. check connections
    2. power off/on
    3. try a different electrical outlet (check circuit breaker)
CASH DRAWER To the Top
  1. drawer won't open
    1. check connections
    2. be sure receipt printer is on and on-line
